I wanna non-ABS proportioning valve to get rid of the useless 80lb hunk of metal in my DSM’s engine bay.

Things I need:

LY6 small block out of a Sierra/Silverado w/ ECU

4L80E automatic trans, preferably out of an Express/Savanna Van (interfaces directly with LY6 ECU)

LS3 small block out of whatever platform

LY2 or L20 4.8L V8 out of any GM truck

One thing that pisses me off about western Toronto. It’s great in that it’s central to everything, so no matter what you have to do there is something within striking distance. However there is exactly SQUAT actually in western Toronto.

Wreakers? well outside the western end, or right on the eastern edge. same distance timewise.

Tracks? Again, west or east. Close enough to go, far enough away to be really inconvenient.

Not just car stuff, either.

Clean swimming water? North.

Winery/Brewery/Distillery? Niagara, or the heart of old Toronto.

Other attractions, like the zoo or Science centre? East end.

tl;dr any time a local wreaker has something going on it's over by the time I have a chance to go take a look :(

Yeah... there’s 2 plans going on up above

1: LY6 + 4L80E + LS3 intake + enormous turbo = 1,000HP for dirt cheap and it’s going in my dad’s Tahoe

2: LS3 block + LY2 crank + ITBs + solid roller cam = 332 cubic inch, 9,000 rpm, 560+HP small block destined for a 91 IROC.

Oooo, forgot to ask for the T56. I just need the core - it’s getting completely rebuilt with hardened shafts and square cut, dog ring gears to backup the 332. It’s like the ultimate re-incarnation of the original Z/28.

Truuu y’all do have a pretty sweet zoo. I am in awe of Toronto and what it means to taverse its entire distance. Trying to do a car tour of Toronto is mighty appealing to me on a free weekend since I’m not far at all in NY and I haven’t been back in earnest in since like highschool, other than one night for Smashing Pumkins a few years back.

I’ve always had this rosy view of a friendly megalopolis...with lazer tag under the space needle. Lazer tag would be on my to-do list.

Just yesterday I pulled up next to a young woman with a black 78-81 IROC with a nice cam lope on a slow boulevard... and forgot all my windows were open and let out a noise as if my fav sports team beat a tie score like G’FOOHYEEAAWWH! NOICE! She definitely turned in my direction looking puzzled

Yeah, it’s all east for that stuff afaik. The zoo isn’t bad, but I find that since it’s soooooo big you have to walk all day to get anywhere and when you get there the animals are on the other side of a massive enclosure. That said they were trying to bring it up to date, and the last time I went they were right in the middle of it.

Personally I like the Henry Doorley in Omaha. Though to be honest if I was going to Omaha I'd probably just go to the SAC museum.

Fellow DSM owner, why the non-ABS valve? Big brake upgrade or just getting rid of ABS? I only ask because I’m rebuilding my car right now and just started looking into brake stuff today.

Getting rid of ABS. Even a fresh unit isn’t really worth keeping and the DSM friendly retailers sell the same factory piece (albeit with braided lines) for like $100. So I would also be looking for non ABS hard lines or make my own. Already have the dba rotors on hawk pads and steel braided short lines it feels pretty great.

VR4 brakes someday need 17” wheels and that’s the real investment

Hahaha, that’s awesome. I wasn’t much for those late 2nd Gen Camaros, but I’m starting to appreciate them more. The 3rd Gen is still my favorite though, it’s the car I grew up with.

Mine already needs new wheels and tires, but I think I’m sticking with 16” and will just do the regular big brakes. I’ve got my engine out and just painted the bay, I’ll have to take a closer look at the proportioning valve and see if I can figure out what’s there. Thanks!

I so badly want to paint my dirty red engine bay the same color as the exterior, which is green... or any other color that isn’t red. A wire tuck with bespoke connectors would be super too, which someone also sells now at dsmtuners. I’m just getting it unning again and that’s the last thing on my mind I’ll wait until I need to take out the engine again.

I’m just wrapping up the engine rebuild so I decided it was a good time to get rid of the “peeling spray painted black over original white” paint job in the bay. It’s silver now, to contrast some copper engine highlights I’ve got going.

On those connectors, that’s something I’d be interested in. Even if I can find new oem connectors, some of mine are pretty crusty and I’d like to replace them.

Edit: just found them, don’t see pricing but I’m going to contact the owner. Thanks for the tip!
